Jama’at-e-Islami (J&K) Saturday said the Indian Army after killing three “innocent youth in a fake encounter” at Hajin Sonawari has refused to hand over their dead bodies to the local people despite forceful demands and attempted to get them buried in Uri where people resisted this move.

“This incident clearly depicts that these three unknown innocent youth have after apprehension from somewhere been killed in cold-blood in a fake encounter which now is the usual procedure here from 1990,” JeI said in a statement.

“JeI demands an immediate probe by some international impartial agency and to disclose the identity of the slain innocent youth so that it may come to fore who are these innocent persons sacrificed for no fault!”

Moreover, the statement said, the police have started a campaign to arrest innocent youth from Arwani Bijbehara without any legal or moral justification only to harass and intimidate the local population.

“Jama’at-e-Islami J&K expresses its deep concern over these illegal arrests and stresses upon the police to release these youth unconditionally and stop this anti-people attitude.”
