SRINAGAR: Professor Hamid Anwar Dhar is no more. He was unwell for the last few months.

Family sources said that Dhar was detected with lung cancer within days after Eid. He was being managed by the doctors and he had undergone chemotherapy and radiotherapy. He breathed his last during the last night at his Cooperative Colony residence on the airport road.

Dhar was a professor of English who was appointed the Controller of Examination of the University of Kashmir at the peak of militancy.

Dhar is survived by his wife, Naseema Lanker and two daughters. Lanker, a senior IAS officer, was former Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir.
