Hamid Bukhari, first Pahari youth of Kashmir makes it to prestigious civil service examination

December 8, Waliwar area of Ganderbal erupted in joy when the news spread that a 28-year-old Syed Hamid Bukhari has cleared the prestigious All-India Civil Service Examination (2016), whose supplementary results were announced on Friday.

A resident of Waliwar area of Lar teshil of Ganderbal district, Hamid is the first one from Pahari community of Kashmir to crack the prestigious examination.

Talking to Kashmir life from Delhi over the phone, Haamid said that nothing is impossible in the world if you work hard.

“Work hard and success will touch your feet. You just need proper guidance and planning to crack the Civil Services Examination,” he said.

Haamid said that cracking the civil service examination was his dream and finally the dream has come true for him.

“Like everyone, I had also set a goal in my life and it was to crack the civil service examination and with the grace of Almighty Allah and support of my family I have achieved my goal,” he said.

He said that he has stood second in the list and got the Indian corporate law service (ICLS), a central services department.

“I am ranked second in the list, it was my third attempt, i will appear in the upcoming exams and try my best to get my preferred IFS rank,” Hamid said.

Hamid did his early schooling from Umar Public School in Malangpora, Bandipora and then completed his BBA from the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora and is presently doing post- graduation in International Studies from JNU.

“I did not have a great exposure to coaching classes but I was confident that I can do it. Extensive reading and complete dedication made me realise my dream,” he said.

Syed Mubrakh Bukhari, elder brother of Hamid told Kashmir Life that the success has made them proud.

“It is a great achievement and he has made entire valley happy particularly Pahari community as he is the first person from the community to achieve this great success,” he said.
