SRINAGAR: A residential house, also housing an Atta Chaki (flour mill), was gutted in a mysterious fire incident at Kotranka in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.
Officials said that the house belonging to Khadim Hussain, son of Munshi Khan, who has been handicapped for the past five years after falling from a tree, lost his house and the attached flour mill in the blaze.
Soon after the fire broke out, a police team rushed to the spot and, with the help of locals, managed to control the flames, preventing further damage to nearby structures.
Locals have appealed to the administration to provide immediate compensation to the affected family, citing their poor financial condition and Khadim Hussain’s disability.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further proceedings. (JKNS)
