Three militants were killed in an encounter by Police and security forces in a joint operation in Wadder Bala forests of Handwara, a police statement said on Wednesday.
The statement added that on specific information over the presence of militants, Police, 21 RR, 30 RR and 06 RR launched a joint operation in the Wadder Bala forests. The joint party was fired upon by the militants triggering an encounter. In this encounter three militants were killed.
One Naib Subedar Rajesh Kumar also lost his life. The three dead bodies of the militants have been recovered from the encounter site. Further searches are on.
