At least five people sustained injuries after they clashed with government forces in north Kashmir’s Handwara tehsil following a pre-dawn gunfight between counterinsurgency forces and militancy.

Reports said that soon after the news of a gunfight spread, people especially youth arrived near to the site in Langate and clashed with the mixed contingents of forces, resulting in injuries to five youth. Among the five three of them have received pellet injuries who were later shifted to District Hospital Handwara for treatment.

Confirming the incident, the Block Medical Officer (BMO) Langate told Kashmir Life that the hospital received five patients, two were locally treated and the other three with pellet injuries were shifted to Handwara hospital for the advanced treatment.

Earlier, in a pre-dawn gunfight two militants were killed. Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in the area to mourn the killing of slain militants.
