On Tuesday afternoon, when news spread about Handwara killings, KNS called its correspondent in Handwara, Zahoor Qadir Bhat, to get the details for the story.
Zahoor picked up the phone and replied that the firing is on-going in the town and blood has littered in the town square. “Some persons have been critically injured in the firing. I will go to the hospital to get the details for the story. Call me after 10 minutes,” Zahoor said over phone.
When KNS office called Zahoor again after 10 minutes, he did not reply till today as he is mourning the death of his brother.
Nayeem Qadir Bhat, the talented cricketer, was Zahoor’s younger brother, who was among the two youths killed in Handwara on Tuesday when protests erupted in the town against the alleged molestation of a girl by an army man.
