Curfew was re-imposed in restive Handwara after intense protests erupted Monday morning.
Reports and local sources told Kashmir Life that as massive protests erupted as people came out on roads in Handwara and raised pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
They were protesting against killing of five persons by forces in last week following an alleged molestation by an army man in main Handwara chowk.
“One youth was hit by a stone and was injured,” a local scribe said. “He has been referred to Handwara hospital.” He has been identified as Javid Ahmad.
Curfew was re-imposed in the area as there was relaxation in curbs for three hours from 8 to 11 this morning.
Reports coming from Trehgam said that markets opened and people have resumed their business. However, tense atmosphere is prevailing in Kupwara main town, locals said.
