SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday said the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign had evolved into a festival of people’s consciousness and a tradition of national pride, urging people to uphold the spirit of the Tricolour in their thoughts, character and actions.
Sinha made the remarks while addressing the Tiranga Mahotsav at the Botanical Garden in Srinagar after flagging off a Tiranga Yatra from the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC).
He said the campaign, launched in 2022, was aimed at strengthening the people’s respect and emotional connection with the National Flag.
“When the Tiranga waves across millions of homes, it is not just the flag that waves, but the hearts of 140 crore Indians are united by the same feeling, the same faith and the same resolve,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor also linked this year’s celebrations with the 150th anniversary of Bankim Chandra Chatterjee’s ‘Vande Mataram’, describing the song as an enduring expression of national consciousness.
He said the commemoration was not limited to honouring the song but also represented a tribute to the values of self-confidence, courage and self-respect associated with the freedom movement.
Sinha congratulated the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their participation in the ‘Vande Mataram’ campaign and said their involvement had become a source of inspiration for the country.
He said the youth and citizens of Jammu and Kashmir had helped the Union Territory achieve the top position in the campaign and urged them to retain the position in its next phase.
The Lieutenant Governor said the achievement should not be viewed merely as a ranking but as an expression of national consciousness in Jammu and Kashmir.
Referring to participation from districts including Bandipora, Baramulla, Pulwama, Poonch, Rajouri, Kishtwar, Jammu and Srinagar, Sinha said collective participation reflected the spirit of unity.
He urged people to use the campaigns as an opportunity for introspection and contribute towards building a prosperous, secure and equitable India.
“If our ancestors protected the nation with their blood, sweat and tears, then it is our responsibility to protect it with our character, honesty, dedication, unity, and service,” he said.
Sinha said the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ campaigns represented the aspirations of a Jammu and Kashmir that was moving towards development, confidence and greater national integration.
He called upon people to ensure that the Tricolour remained high not only on rooftops but also in their thoughts, character and actions.
The Lieutenant Governor also urged citizens to honour the sacrifices made for India’s independence by working towards a nation that is prosperous, safe and just, with equal opportunities for all.
He called for collective efforts to build an economically stronger Jammu and Kashmir while preserving pride in Indian culture and spiritual values.
