Wasaf Jeelani, 24, is writer and director of the film. It was produced by Vivek Budakoti and Rajita Sharna under the banner of Magic Lantern Productions.

The short movie is said to be inspired from Anton Chekhov’s short story Misery. Wasaf said his movie aims “to present a perspective on forced disappearances in Kashmir.”

Wasaf is currently assisting Megna Gulzar in his film Razzi produced by Dharma Productions and Junglee, with actors Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal playing the main lead.

Wasaf told Kashmir Life that he is the first person from valley whose short film has been selected for such a huge event.
