The House Committee (HC) of Legislative Council convened to look into embezzlement of public money in the JAKFED since 1987 to 2000 was held under the chairmanship of MLC Khalid Najeeb Suharwardy here on Wednesday.
The Committee discussed, threadbare, the serious issue of embezzlement and examined the records furnished by the JAKFED on the Pillai Committee Report thoroughly. The Committee observed that the records are not satisfactory as the Pillai Committee Report says that most of the records have been destroyed by the concerned authorities of the JAKFED from time to time.
The Committee asked the authorities of the JAKFED to submit a detailed list of the Managing Directors, General Managers, Managers and other staff members, who have worked on sensitive posts along with their tenure and place of posting from 1987 to 2000 within a weeks’ time for further scrutiny by the Committee.
The Committee suggested that before recommending any action against the defaulters, it should be ascertained that how much amount has been recovered from the defaulters since last 22 years so far.
