High Court on Monday quashed the Public Safety Act (PSA) against senior separatist leader and National Front Chairman, Nayeem Ahmad Khan and ordered his immediate release.

 The high court accepted the argument of Khan’s lawyers Advocate G N Shaheen and Advocate M Ashraf Mir and passed the release orders.

Nayeem Ahmad Khan was arrested on February 8, 2013. He was kept in central jail Srinagar before shifting to Kot Bhalwal jail under PSA. Khan, due to his exceptional political faith has spent a long period of his life in jails.

Meanwhile Nayeem Ahmad Khan was on Monday brought from Kot Bhalwal and produced in a lower court of Srinagar in some old case.

Talking briefly to media persons in the court premises, Khan congratulated the team of daily Greater Kashmir for completing its 25 years of publication. “Journalism in Kashmir can’t be talked without Greater Kashmir,” Khan said, adding, “Greater Kashmir has an exception to institutionalize the profession of journalism in Kashmir.” He said that Greater Kashmir has become a symbol of institutionalized journalism and it is now being talked in every country of the world. Khan while praising the Greater Kashmir Publications said that it has created an Urdu daily Kashmir Uzma, which has become voice of the people in real sense.
