Expressing surprise over alleged inability of state government to take action against the Hindustan Construction Corporation (HCC), inhabitants of Bandipora have demanded immediate action against the alleged negligence of HCC which has resulted in death of hundreds of animals. Locals have threatened of mass migration if authorities fail to take immediate action.

HCC is allegedly violating all norms and has caused threat to the life and property of locals in Bandipora. Negligence of Corporation constructing Kishan Ganga project in North Kashmir is drawing out chemical water to springs which resulted in death of large number of fishes and a cow.

“HCC has violated all norms and has created threat to the environment and ecology. It is outing chemical water to springs and rivers that has caused death to various animals and existence of diseases”, alleged locals.

The whole locality is under fear as recently a number of animals died after drinking chemical water in these springs. “My cow died after taking this poisonous water in spring”, alleged Anjum Nisar. He said that locals had approached authorities at various times with apprehensions and grievances but nothing was done on ground despite of assurances from officials.

“Extracting water from project is white in color and it is so much poisonous that large number of fishes died within no time’, eye witnesses told KNS.
