HDFC Bank, the second largest private sector bank in the country was recently declared the “Strongest Bank in Asia Pacific” continued its expansion spree by opening one more branch and 2 ATMs at Kangan. photo

Amongst the new generation private banks, HDFC Bank currently has a network of 59 branches and 160 ATMs in the state. The branch at Kangan was inaugurated by Mian Altaf Ahmad, Hon’ble Minister for Forests, Environment & Ecology. Zubair Iqbal, Vice president, HDFC Bank who was also present on the occasion inaugurated the 2 ATMs.

As per a statement the inaugural function was attended by a number of people from Local Administration, Iftikhar Ahmed, Dy Vice President,  Showket Nahvi, Asstt Vice President , Ayesha Kutey Assistant Vice President & Aatif Andrabi, Assistant Vice President and respectable people from the locality.

As per a statement Mian Altaf while speaking on the occasion has appreciated the growth and expansion plans of the bank and bringing the world class services to the door steps of the people of Kangan.  He thanked the HDFC Bank Management for opening branch at Kangan. Minister expressed hope that bank will open more branches in the district and contribute to economic upliftment of the people of the area.

HDFC Bank started its journey in J & K in 2003 with a focus to reach out people in far flung and remote areas and provide banking solutions and accessibility to funds. Today, “the bank has achieved a consistent growth rate and the largest private bank network in the state in a span of 9 years. Our strategic journey since 2003-04 in Jammu & Kashmir is a testimony of our growth plans. Today we are proud to have increased our Branch network to 59 Branches and 160 ATMs and contemplate another 11 Branches & 30 ATMs by end of September 2014.This large scale expansion has generated direct/indirect employment opportunities to >1500 state subjects. HDFC Bank has today emerged as one of the major employers in private sector in J&K. During same time, we have taken our CD Ratio to 40% with significant contribution in priority sector and agriculture. The expansion will further bring the convenience and comfort of modern day banking at the doorsteps of our customers in rural & semi – urban areas as we have expanded to far flung area like Leh, Kargil, Poonch, Doda, Rajouri, Baderwah,  Handwara,Kathua, Katra, Kulgam to name few”, Zubair said.
