Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents, and Block Medical Officers have been instructed to conduct comprehensive awareness initiatives in their respective jurisdictions to curb the spread of the disease.

“The public is advised to adhere to specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to prevent further infection. These include using boiled water for drinking and cooking, maintaining proper hand hygiene with soap and disinfectants, and avoiding close contact with affected individuals. In case of symptoms, immediate reporting to the nearest health facility is crucial,” the order reads.

The campaign places a special focus on the health and hygiene of children, urging parents to ensure frequent hand washing and to keep children, the elderly, and those with comorbidities away from infected individuals.

Additionally, the public has been advised to avoid consuming raw vegetables, salads, street foods, and junk foods, and to wash fruits thoroughly before eating. Staying hydrated and avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours are also recommended.

It adds, “The awareness drive will utilise various communication channels, including miking, door-to-door visits, posters, pamphlets, and social media, to ensure the information reaches a broad audience. Regular updates on the outbreak and SOPs will be shared with the public to prevent misinformation. Prompt and coordinated action is expected from all health officials to manage the situation effectively.”
