SRINAGAR: The Multidisciplinary Research Unit (MRU) at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar has been awarded a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ by the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, in recognition of its excellence in research.
GMC Srinagar secured the highest ranking among medical institutions in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir with an MRU. The award was received by Prof (Dr) Iffat Hassan, Principal/Dean GMC Srinagar, and Dr. Mohammad Younis Rather, Scientist C, MRU GMC Srinagar.
The recognition was conferred during ‘The Medical Colleges Research Connect-2025,’ organised by the Department of Health Research (DHR), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The event reviewed the progress of the Central Sector Umbrella Scheme (2013-14), which supports health research through 118 Multidisciplinary Research Units (MRUs) in government medical colleges and institutes across India.
