Calling for a need to benefit from the latest technology-run polyclinics and diagnostic centres for detecting various diseases and health issues, Hurriyat Conference (m) Chairperson, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Monday said thousands of Kashmiri people were suffering from different ailments because of the lack of proper diagnostic due to which people have to face numerable difficulties.

Mirwaiz after inaugurating a Diagnostic and Research Centre of MD Haya Charitable Medical Trust at Soura Srinagar, termed it an important step for the people of Valley and said they would benefit from the state-of-art technology-laden polyclinic and diagnostic centre.

He said healthcare in Kashmir was not up to the mark and the government run hospitals, polyclinics and diagnostic centres do not come to the expectations of the people who have to travel outside Jammu Kashmir for getting their necessary diagnostic tests done while they are suffering from any ailment.

Mirwaiz said the need of the hour was that more and more doctors, who share this honorable profession, should come forward and setup centres where peoples’ diagnostic tests are carried and care is taken that the poor and the needy do not have to burn the holes in their pockets by paying for these tests.

He said healthcare in private sector would only deliver results when common masses benefit from such initiatives and are able to get these diagnostic tests done easily and at cheaper rates.

Kashmir’s head priest said that Kashmiris were caught in quagmire due to the two-and-a-half decades of the turmoil have been suffering from various ailments and problems.

He urged upon the people involved in the medical profession and healthcare to come forward wholeheartedly and take more such initiatives for the greater social and Kashmir cause.
