Scores of victims of Hepatitis-C from Leper Colony, Lal Bazar Monday staged protest against government in difference toward the. They said that it is an ‘outbreak’ of the disease in the colony.

The protesting residents from the colony alleged that the government is not taking notice of the life taking disease which has infected more than three dozen people fo the area.

“Atleast 40 of us are suffering from the Hepatitis-C disease and we tried to approach Health Minister, Chowdhary Lal Singh for it but he was not available,” president of Leper Victims Association, Muhammad Lateef Khan, told Kashmir Life. “We went to meet him thrice but to no avail.”

He further said that the Leper Colony is supported by government but they are yet see any government action.

“This is a life threatening disease and it has been more than a week now that the disease spread in the colony but nobody has cared to take notice of it,” the protestors alleged.
