SRINAGAR: Police on Thursday claimed to have busted two hideouts of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant outfit in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Arms and ammunition recovered from hideout in south Kashmir’s Anantnag.

A police spokesman in a statement said, “Based on a credible input, Awantipora police along with 50RR and 130BN CRPF have busted two militant hideouts in the forest area of Badroo Barsoo area of Awantipora.”

“During the search in the area, the joint team busted and destroyed two hideouts of proscribed militant outfit LeT,” said the spokesman.

He said that the joint team was able to recover huge cache of explosive materials, arms and ammunition and other incriminating materials from the said hideouts which include 1918 AK rounds, 02 hand grenades, 01 Ubgl thrower, 04 Ubgl grenades, half bag of ammonium nitrate like substance, five gelatin sticks, crude pipe bomb, 03 code sheets and other materials.

“Besides, the Indian currency of Rs 5400/= was also recovered. All the recovered incriminating materials have been taken into police custody for the purpose of the investigation,” he said.

“Accordingly, Police have registered a case FIR No. 106 /2020 under relevant sections of law in Police Station Awantipora and initiated investigation,” said a police spokesman in a statement.
