Forces on Wednesday launched a massive search operation along Jammu- Srinagar highway in Jajjar Kotli after suspected militants opened fire at a CRPF Naka party.

An official said that there was a routine checking going on of the trucks. During this, one of the people inside the truck open fired. Nobody was injured in the attack and the two people are said to have fled towards the lane adjoining the police station.

“Soon after the incident, a massive search operation was launched in the area and a high alert was also sounded,” said a police official.

Meanwhile, The Indian Express quoted Vivek Gupta, SSP Jammu as saying that the firing from inside the truck started when police party intercepted the vehicle for checking. The police have seized the truck in which the suspected militants were travelling and recovered an AK rifle and some magazines. Three people including the truck driver and it’s cleaner have been detained. Searches are on for those absconding.
