High Court Revised Pecuniary Jurisdiction Limits of Civil Judges in Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh

   

SRINAGAR: The High Court of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh has revised the pecuniary limits of jurisdiction for Civil Judges (Junior Division) and Civil Judges (Senior Division) across the Union Territories of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh.

According to a notification issued by the Office of the Registrar General, Srinagar, under Section 21 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Courts Act, 1977, all Civil Judges (Senior Division) have been empowered to hear civil suits valued up to Rs 20 lakh within their territorial jurisdiction.

Similarly, Civil Judges (Junior Division) have been authorized to hear civil suits valued up to Rs 5 lakh within their respective local limits.

The notification stated that the revised jurisdiction limits will come into effect from June 1, 2026.

It was further clarified that all pending suits as on May 31, 2026, shall continue in the respective courts where they are presently pending, irrespective of the revised notification.
