According to a government GAD order, the committee will be chaired by the Chief Secretary of J&K and will include key administrative secretaries from the Finance, Housing & Urban Development, General Administration, and other concerned departments, along with the Commissioners of Srinagar and Jammu Municipal Corporations.

The committee has been tasked with identifying and resolving issues hindering the effective empowerment of ULBs. The committee will recommend measures to streamline the devolution process and optimise the financial transfer of responsibilities.

The Housing & Urban Development Department will provide secretarial support to the committee, which is expected to submit its report at the earliest. (KNO)
