Authorities on Friday suspended the internet services in Srinagar city and some other parts of Kashmir as a “precautionary measure” in the wake of recent protests demanding justice for the Kathua rape victim.

An official said that the suspension of the mobile Internet facility is a “precautionary measure for just a few hours.

The official added that the decision was taken to prevent miscreants from creating any law and order problems in the area.

Apart from Srinagar, the services were also suspended in Islamabad, Shopian, Pulwama and Kulgam districts of south Kashmir.

Meanwhile, reports from Rajouri district of Jammu region said that internet services were suspended in the area to prevent rumour-mongering over the death of a teenage boy yesterday.
