SRINAGAR: Rains in plains and fresh snowfall in higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir occurred on Tuesday as the meteorological (MET) department forecast dry weather during the next 24 hours.

An official said that Gulmarg recorded 37cm of fresh snowfall during in the past 24 hours.

“Weather is likely to remain dry during the next 24 hours in J&K and Ladakh,” an official of the MET department said.

Gulmarg in north Kashmir was the coldest place in the Valley where the minimum temperature was minus 2.0 degrees celsius.

Srinagar, the summer capital of the J&K recorded a low of 5.2 while the mercury in the famous tourist place Pahalgam in south Kashmir settled at a low of 2.1 degrees Celsius.

The minimum night temperature at Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of 2.8 degrees Celsius.

Kokernag town recorded a low of 1.1 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of 3.7 degrees Celsius last night.

Jammu city recorded 19.3 degrees Celsius, Katra town 12.8, Batote 6.6, Banihal 4.8 and Bhaderwah 3.2 as the minimum temperatures.
