SRINAGAR: Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Monday said that clearance operations are being carried out on a “war footing” to restore traffic movement on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway, which remains blocked at Thard and Bali Nalah in Udhampur.
In a post on X, Singh stated that the weather had cleared and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) teams were working round the clock. “Hopefully by late evening, it may be possible to start allowing the traffic movement,” he said.

Highlighting interim measures, Singh noted that a newly introduced local passenger train is operating between Katra and Ramban Sangaldan to ensure the movement of essential supplies. These consignments are then transported by road to Doda and Kishtwar districts.
The minister assured that efforts are continuing to restore full connectivity on the highway at the earliest.
