The Mughal road, connecting Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region, reopened on Sunday after remaining closed for two days due to the accumulation of snowfall and landslides at several places, including Pir-ki-Gali.

An official said that authorities have cleared the snow and landslides from the area, adding that traffic will today ply from Rajouri and Poonch to Shopian.

In Srinagar-Jammu highway, the LMVs will ply from both Srinagar and Jammu while HMVs will continue to ply one-way only. Today, HMVs will ply from Srinagar to Jammu and no heavy vehicle will be allowed from opposite direction, he said.

However, the traffic department has requested the general people to undertake the journey on the highway only after confirming the status of the road from Traffic Control Units (TCUs) set up in Srinagar, Ramban and Jammu.
