A 42-year-old man was brought dead at Srinagar’s SMHS hospital Sunday Evening.

According to reports, a resident of Behrampora Sopore with a single gun shot to his head was declared brough dead by doctors in SMHS.

The reports further suggest that few gun shots were heard at Behrampora.

Late tonight, police identified the slain person as Nazir Ahmad Mir son of late Abdul Ahad Mir.

“He is a pure civilian and there is nothing against him to the best of our knowledge,” top police officer from Sopore said. “We are investigating but we have no clues why he was killed.”

Police said they have sketchy details about the incident suggesting that he was shot at in his courtyard by unidentified persons. The bullet had hit his head and he died while being shifted to hospital. They also said they have no idea who the assailants were.
