Thousands of mourners on Wednesday participated in the funeral prayers of Hizb commander Altaf Ahmed Dar (Kachroo) in south Kashmir’s Islamabad district.
Reports said that the funeral was held at his native village in Hawoora area of Kulgam.
Despite the ban on internet and amid the shutdown, people from different walks of life poured onto the streets amid the chanting of pro-freedom slogans. Scores of men and women wept bitterly as the body was being carried towards its final resting place.
Soon after the slain militant was taken towards the graveyard, militants appeared in the funeral and offered a gun salute to the slain.
