Kulgam police Monday said it has busted a militant financing module by arresting three of its members and recovering Rs 17.5 lacks of Indian currency and 33 fake Golden Pounds (Edward) from their instance.

“Kulgam police received a specific information that terrorists Tausif Ahmad Sheikh and Mohammad Abas Sheikh who are  involved in several acts of terrorism including the killing of a Follower of JKP Mohammad Rafiq Mir son of Mohammad Ramzan resident of Hussanpora Bagh and NC Panch Haji Gull Mohammad Bhat son of Abdul Gani Bhat resident of Wonpoh, Anantnag have obtained some fake golden coins (Edward Golden Pounds) from across the border and are duping the general public by way of selling them through Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh son of Salam resident of Rampora Qaimoh, Kulgam and Mushtaq Ahmad Kumbay son of Nabi resident of Wonpoh, Anantnag,” the police spokesperson said.

“After receiving the information, Kulgam police apprehended Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh brother of active terrorist Tausif Ahmad Sheikh and recovered 12.5 lacks from his instance.”

During the initial investigation, the spokesperson said, police arrested two more associates of the “gang” identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Kumbay son of Nabi Kumbay resident of Wonpoh, Anantnag and Mohammad Iqbal Khan @ Manzoor son of Ghulam Hassan resident of Vihel Shopian and “recovered 05 more lacks of Indian currency and 33 fake Golden pounds (Edward)”.
