A Hizb militant was killed in a gunfight with counter-insurgent forces in Gondana belt of Doda district in Jammu division on Wednesday.
A police official identified the slain militant Haroon Wani, son of Ghulam Abbas Wani, an engineer and a resident of Furqaan Abad Ghat area of Doda.
“One AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 73 rounds, a Chinese grenade and a radio set were recovered from Haroon Wani,” said an official.
According to DGP Dilbag Singh, who spoke to the media after the encounter, Haroon Wani was also behind the 2019 murders of an RSS leader named Chanderkant Sharma and his personal security officer.
