With the arrest of a militant Irshad Ahmad Shah resident of Seelu, Sopore in Baramulla, police has busted a network who were spearheading militant activities and recruitment of local boys in Baramulla and Sopore, a police official said.

The militant Irshad Shah was active with Hizbul-Mujahideen militant outfit for last more than 2 years.

Arrested militant Irshad Khawaja @ Tanveer (HM) along with two other absconders are involved in killing of one civilian namely Eid ul Amin Mir son of Late Abdul Ahad Mir resident of Maqboolabad Bahrampora and conspiracy was hatched in the house of one HM OGW Azhar Imtiyaz of Behrampora who stands arrested (case FIR No. 128/2016 dated: 25.12.2016), police said.

With his arrest, police, Army and CRPF in Sopore has been able to lay hands on network of over ground activists of outfit who were aiding and abetting militancy besides luring young boys towards militancy. In a series of raids Sopore Police and security forces has arrested following 09 people who were influencing young and innocent boys to join militancy. Those arrested have been identified are Mudasir Ahmad Ganie, son of Ghulam Din Ganie, resident of Ladoora; Abdul Majeed Dar, son of Mohd Munawar Ganie, resident of Ladoora; Ajaz Ahmad Shah son of Mohd Sultan resident of Bismillah Colony Shangergund Sopore; Azhar Imtiyaz son of Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir, resident of Behrampora; Gh Mustafa Lone, son of Mohd Ashraf Lone, resident of Thagund; Showkat Ahmad Mir son of Mohd Zaffar Mir, resident of Bomai and Aejaz Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohd Subhan Bhat, resident of Bomai; Mohd Yasin Tantray son of Gh. Mohd Tantray, resident of Wadoora Payeen; Abdul Majid Shah son of Gh. Ahmad Shah, resident of Wadoora Payeen.
