Militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen Monday held a prayer meeting for the wellbeing of the Octogenarian Hurriyat Chairperson, Syed Ali Geelani.

It also paid rich tributes to one of its commanders Ghulam Rasool Dar alias Ghazi Naseer Ud Din on his 12th death anniversary. Ghazi was killed in 2004 during a gunfight with Indian troopers in Srinagar.

As per a statement to CNS, Hizb Chief Syed Sallahuddin while addressing a meeting said that the slain militant was a religious figure and an “ardent supporter of Kashmir Freedom Struggle”. “Ghazi was well-educated who spent most of his time in prayers. He was possessing unique leadership qualities.”

Syed Sallahuddin said, “the death of Ghazi produced motivated large number of youth and his drops of blood have continuously been inspiring the freedom lovers in Kashmir.”

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairperson Muhammad Yasin Malik visited Geelani’s Hyderpora residence to enquire about his health.

Earlier in the day, Jama’at-e-Islami Chief visited the ailing leader at his uptown Hyderpora residence.

“Yasin Malik went to Geelani’s house. He sat with him for more than an hour. Both Geelani and Yasin Malik looked emotional during the meeting,” said a top JKLF leader, who was accompanying Malik.

Many delegations arrived at ailing leader’s residence and inquired about his health, however, Geelani has been strictly advised not to interact with public.
