Strongly condemning the “occupation of playing field” in the HMT Zainakote area in Srinagar outskirts by the CRPF camp present in HMT factory complex, “use of excessive force” by the police on the peaceful protesters who were protesting against this CRPF move and arrest of dozens of local youths including Hayat Ahmad Ganai, Touseef Ahmad Dar, Bilal Ahmad Sheikh, Mohammad Ramzan Sheikh, Arshid Ahmad Bhat, Altaf Ahmad Ganai, Khursheed Ahmad Ganai and Fazil Ahmad Lone on the occasion, Chairperson All Parties Hurriyat Conference (g) Syed Ali Geelani Wednesday said, “the new communal backed state government had transferred all the powers of state affairs to the Indian occupational forces and the so-called civil administration is nowhere visible on the ground.”

Demanding removal of all the forces camps from the civilian and populated areas of Kashmir including the CRPF and RR camps in the HMT Zainakote area, Hurriyat octogenarian chief said, “these camps have not only become the death traps for the local people particularly youths but these camps have also become the suppliers of drugs and alcohol like deadly substances. These camps are spreading poison in their areas of influence and their main target is the Kashmiri younger generation. It is a deadly weapon of war which they are using to weaken our freedom struggle.”

Geelani added, “the CRPF personnel present in a local camp at Zainakote HMT today morning started to occupying the only playing field in the area and the police provided guard to them. According to the locals when the local people objected the proposed move of the CRPF, the police used force and tear smoke shells on the local people which left dozens of people with serious injuries.”

He said that instead of removing the said CRPF camp “who have recently murdered an innocent engineering student Gowhar Nazir Dar in the area, the killer forces have started to illegally occupy the more land in the area”.

While strongly condemning the proposed move of the CRPF in HMT Zainakote, Geelani said, “the civilian government in the Jammu & Kashmir is just for the name and the actual control of this state is in the hands of Indian occupational forces and its secret agencies.”

Geelani cautioned that the proposed move of the CRPF in HMT Zainakote area “will have very serious consequences and all its responsibility will be on the government and the police”.

Demanding removal of the forces camps from the Zainakote HMT area and from other civilian areas of Kashmir and immediate release of all the detained youths, Geelani said, “the present government policies are increasing the political uncertainty and instability in the state and the people are feeling suffocated in the present situation.”
