SRINAGAR: The Home Voting process for the 27–Assembly Constituency (AC) Budgam commenced on Wednesday, ahead of the scheduled bye-elections on November 11.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has introduced home voting to ensure inclusive participation, allowing eligible senior citizens and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) to cast their votes from their residences. The facility is available to voters aged 85 years and above, as well as PwDs with 40 percent or more benchmark disability.
Dedicated polling teams, comprising Presiding Officers, polling officials, and security personnel, visited the homes of eligible voters to facilitate the process in accordance with ECI guidelines.
Beneficiaries of the initiative expressed appreciation, thanking the Election Commission and the District Election Officer for providing a convenient and citizen-friendly facility. Many voters highlighted the empowerment and dignity associated with being able to cast their vote from home.
The Home Voting initiative underscores the Election Commission’s commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and ensuring that no voter is left behind in the electoral process.
