SRINAGAR: All the J&K consolidated workers including drivers, part-time sweepers and drivers association working in the health department in different hospitals of the Kashmir valley on Tuesday held a massive protest demonstration here in Press Colony, Srinagar demanding health department to release their pending wages as per the SRO 460.

The protestors from various district of the Kashmir valley assembled here and chanted slogans “we want justice” and “release our pending wages”.

The protestors said that they are working in the health department on a consolidated basis in the department, but their wages have not been released by the department.

Saleem Ahmad Reshi, one of the staffers working in the health department said that the department is doing the injustice with sweepers working in the health department.

“We are working in the department since 1994, all the departments of the Jammu and Kashmir have implemented the minimum wages Act under SRO 460 but the Health Department has not implemented it. We are demanding the health department to release our pending wages as per SRO 460,” Reshi added.

The protesting that the health department must implement the minimum wages Act as per the order issued by the finance department, so all the consolidated employees will get proper wages as per the minimum wages Act.

The protestors also sought the intervention LT Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and Director of Health Service Kashmir to look into the matter and release of the pending wages as per the SR0 460.(CNS)
