SRINAGAR: Police in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district raided the residence of GN Shaheen, a prominent leader of the Awami Itihaad Party (AIP), in the Tral area.
Shaheen, an advocate and former general secretary of the High Court Bar Association, is closely associated with Engineer Rashid’s AIP.
AIP spokesperson Inamun Nabi said the party is still trying to ascertain the purpose of the raid. “We contacted the police, and they informed us that the reason would be shared later,” Nabi said, adding that it is also unclear which agency was involved in the operation. (KNT)
