SRINAGAR: Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defence reported on Saturday that debris from two intercepted ballistic missiles had fallen in parts of Mecca, Jeddah, Taif and Rabigh, following a launch by Yemen’s Houthi rebels towards Mecca and Medina.

No casualties were reported, the Civil Defence spokesperson said in a statement.
The debris fell in Wadi Al-Maghammas in Mecca, the Al-Nuzha neighbourhood of Jeddah, Wadi Jalil in Taif and Masturah in Rabigh Governorate.
Separately, the Saudi-led coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognised government said it had intercepted and destroyed two Houthi ballistic missiles targeting Taif and Yanbu.
Saudi authorities issued early-warning alerts in several areas before subsequently confirming that the threat had passed.
The incidents come amid renewed Houthi missile and drone attacks targeting Saudi Arabia. The group, which controls Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, has resumed cross-border attacks after a United Nations-brokered truce in 2022 largely halted fighting between the Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition.
