Houthis Claim Ballistic Missile, Drone Attacks on Aramco Sites in Saudi Arabia

SRINAGAR: Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi group has claimed it launched ballistic missiles and drones at Saudi Aramco facilities in Riyadh and the Khurais area, saying the attacks caused major fires at the targeted sites, Reuters reported.

Houthi military spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree said the strikes were carried out in response to Saudi-led coalition attacks on Yemen. He claimed that up to 60 airstrikes and missile attacks had targeted Sanaa and other Houthi-controlled areas over the previous 24 hours.

Saree said the operation had achieved its objectives and claimed the strikes hit their targets directly, resulting in fires at the sites.

There was no immediate confirmation from Saudi authorities of the Houthi claim concerning the Aramco facility in Riyadh.

Meanwhile, Yemen’s internationally recognised government confirmed that its forces had carried out attacks on what it described as “vital targets” in Houthi-controlled Sanaa and Saada.

The government’s armed forces spokesperson said the strikes were aimed at Houthi military capabilities and warned that such targets would continue to come under attack.

The Houthis also threatened further escalation, saying they would continue what they described as a “siege for a siege” and “escalation for escalation”, including targeting Saudi troop build-ups, until the attacks on Yemen and the blockade were brought to an end.
