Police arrested six persons in Sopore allegedly involved in selling Codeine Phosphate syrup among the youth and recovered large cache of Codeine Phosphate bottles from them.

Police said in a statement on Friday that a naka party of Police Station Bomie searched an auto bearing registration number JK05D-6308 driven by Fayaz Ahmad Bhat resident of Bomie at Highway near Zindri. During the search of the auto 150 bottles of Codeine Phosphate bottles were recovered and two persons Khursheed Ahmad Khan son of Mohammad Syed resident of Barzulla Panzgam, Bandipora and Altaf Ahmad Sofi son of Abdul Rehman resident of Tulibal Sopore travelling in the auto were arrested.

Police has registered a case FIR no. 18/2014 under section 8/22 NDPS in this regard and investigation was taken up.

During the investigation, police said, four more persons Showkat Ahmad Mir son of Bashir Ahmad, Ishfaq Ahmad Dar son of Nazir Ahmad residents of Silo, Sopore, Lateef Ahmad Mir so of Hamza Mir resident of Brath Klan Sopore and Azad Ahmad Mir son of Manzoor Ahmad resident of Hib Dangerpora, Sopore were arrested. Police claimed that 250 bottles of Codeine Phosphate bottles were recovered from their possession.
