SRINAGAR

All roads on highway leading to Batamloo from North Kashmir are jam packed as the people were protesting on roads against the shortage of essential commodities.

As per an eyewitness, travelling from Lawaypora to Baghat in uptown Srinagar, said, “People were on roads in Shalteng Chowk, Fruit Mandi and Tengpora which resulted in huge traffic jams. All vehicles were standing still on byepass and I preferred to walk rather than waiting in bus to reach my destination.” He added that it took him three hours walk to reach his detination which otherwise is 30 mins travel via bus.

Another witness, a student of SSM College, said, “We are standing still in our college buses on highway and we were supposed to present our projects today. I fear we may miss our assignements.”

Meanwhile huge traffic jams were also reported from Barzulla, Rambagh and Solina areas. “I was travelling from Barzulla to SKIMS Soura and I left from home at 9.30 am and I reached SKIMS at 12.30 pm. It was pathetic to reach hospital,” said Dr Hanif.
