SRINAGAR: The government of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday said that those involved in violation of human rights or child rights are not eligible for the position of chairperson or member of the Jammu & Kashmir Child Rights Commission.
A notice issued by the Government states that those with a past record of violation of human rights or child rights are ineligible for key statutory positions in the rights body.
“Those sentenced and convicted for an offense which in the opinion of the government involves moral turpitude are also not eligible for these positions,” reads the order.
The notice also states that those removed or dismissed by the central government or state government are also not eligible for these positions.
The notice has been issued by the J&K government for filling the post of chairperson and six members in the child rights panel. Among six members, two shall be women.
The JK government has set the ball rolling for the appointment of a chairperson and members of the child rights panel. The Social Welfare Department has constituted a five-member committee to shortlist candidates for these positions.
