Earlier, Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik urged people to observe human rights week from today.

The leaders have asked people to lit candles and torchlights after evening prayers during this week to highlight ‘grave’ human rights violations in the valley.

“We appeal to the people of Kashmir to lit candles and torchlights outside mosques in their localities, towns and villages to highlight grave human rights violations at the international level and turn the attention of world community towards them,” said the JRL spokesman.

JRL also urged members of civil society, Bar Association, Chamber of Commerce, Traders Federation, Employees Unions, social and political organizations, religious groups, and transporters to stage a protest at their own level each day from December 3 to December 9.
