Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Muneer Khan on Tuesday said that investigation would continue into the use of a civilian as a “human shield” by an army officer during Srinagar by-polls.

“The investigation will carry on…the FIR has not been quashed (against the army major),” said Khan when asked whether police would continue the investigation in view of awarding of the accused.

Pertinetly, army on Monday announced an award for the army major who tied a Kashmiri civilian to a jeep and paraded him for 27 Kms across 20 villages in central part of Kashmir’s Budgam district.
