SRINAGAR: Hurriyat (M) Conference on Saturday strongly denounced the policies of “repression” being unleashed across Kashmir by lakhs of government forces.

The spokesman in a statement said that one hand various ploys have been employed to force the people into submission by crushing their rights, and on the other, the peaceful programs of resistance leaders are being disallowed by using the force. The Hurriyat said even as heavy deployment is being made around masjids to prevent people from offering obligatory prayers.

Hurriyat in a statement also strongly condemned the arrest of an assistant editor of a weekly magazine Kashmir Narrator, Asif Sultan stating that the act deserves highest forms of condemnation and amounts to assault on freedom of the Hurryatpress.

The Hurriyat said that journalists working in Kashmir have always been targeted for highlighting the violation on the people of the region over the past three decades.

Demanding the immediate release of journalist Asif SultaHurriyatstrongly condemned the police act of seizing Asif’s laptop, mobile phone and castigated the police for giving false assurances to his the family members that he will be released soon.

The Hurriyat termed the frequent cordon and search operations in various areas of South Kashmir that include Kokernag, Kulgam, Dialgam, Pulwama and Tral and the door to door searches stating that these acts are totally unjustified and are aimed at instilling fear among the people to prevent them from demanding their birth right.
