Hurriyat (G) Conference in a statement on Sunday condemned the policy of “violations” against the families of militants and termed it a sheer “cowardice”.

The spokesman said that nocturnal raids on the house of Nazir Ahmad Malik of Arwani Shopian by the government forces and vandalizing the residential house, window panes, locomotion, and all other valuable property, are barbaric actions and these actions cannot deter the local population from supporting freedom movement.

Expressing its anguish on actions against the innocent people, Hurriyat said that the government forces have failed on all fronts to suppress the people’s sentiments with the movement for the right to self-determination during the past 71 years especially since 1989.

The spokesman added that on the direction of Hurriyat Chairman Syed Ali Geelani, Hurriyat chief organizer and secretary public relations Bilal Ahmad Siddiqui and Molvi Bashir Irfani visited the residence of Umar Qayoum on his 8th anniversary at Soura, Srinagar. Umar Qayoum, 13, was killed in 2010. The Hurriyat leaders prayed for the eternal peace of the slain.
