While terming the continuous detention of pro-freedom leaders Mohammad Yaseen Malik, Masarat Alam Bhat, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Abdul Gani Bhat, Abdul Subhan Wani, Nasir Abdullah Palhallan, Mufti Abdul Ahad, Parvaiz Ahmad Tarzoo and Abdul Samad Inqalibi as ‘unjustified and illegal,’ Hurriyat Conference (G) Sunday demanded immediate release of all the political prisoners.

In a statement Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar said, “At the time election drama in the state all the Hurriyat leaders and thousands of pro-freedom youths were detained in different jails, police stations and interrogation centers. Many of them were although released, there are dozens of Hurriyat leaders and hundreds of youths still under detention.”

“Whoever will come to the power in Jammu & Kashmir but the state will be always ruled by the Indian home ministry and like in the past the state government will play the character of a show boy. All the matters regarding to the Jammu & Kashmir are directly looked upon by the advisors of the Indian Prime Minister,” he claimed.

Ayaz Akbar claimed that the state administration can’t even release a political leader of their own, ‘so there is no question of any major political decision.’ “If there would have been any wattage to the state administration then they should have released all the political prisoners after the end of election drama because their detention has no legal or moral justification now.”

The Hurriyat (G) spokesman said that the top brass of army and police are at second position after the authorities in Delhi in controlling the affairs of Jammu & Kashmir. “They detain the pro-freedom people and youths at will and they prepare false and fabricated cases against them and detain them for years together without any constitutional and legal justifications,” he alleged.

While particularly mentioning Masarat Alam Bhat, Mushtaq-ul-Islam and Nasir Abdullah, Ayaz Akbar said that their continuous detention has no relevance with any law in the world and it is the grave human rights violation. “They are being slapped with PSAs one after another and despite the court orders they are not being released. PSA has been termed as a lawless law at international levels and its execution has been termed as the grave human rights violation but the Indian government is openly using the state terrorism as a tool to suppress the peaceful voice of Jammu & Kashmir people and they have no respect for the international laws. The rulers of this country are suffering from the arrogance of power and they can go to any extend for keeping the forced occupation of Jammu & Kashmir,” he alleged. “Indian army is involved in worst kind of war crimes in Jammu & Kashmir but it has remained unnoticed so far.”

While demanding immediate release of all the political prisoners, he appealed Amnesty International and other international human rights organizations to take serious notice of the conditions of Kashmiri prisoners and use their influence in ending their detention.
