While taking strong notice of the continuous detention of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat district president Islamabad Mir Hafizullah in the lockup from July 3 and the alleged ill-treatment meted out to him at the hands of the SHO Anantnag, Hurriyat Conference (g) Wednesday demanded his immediate release.

In a statement to KNS, Hurriyat (g) spokesperson cautioned the SHO that in the run of becoming “more loyal than the king he is actually forgetting that how an ordinary police man should behave with a political prisoner and what the law says about that.” “People in Islamabad held peaceful protest demonstration on 3 July Friday against the arrest of Hurriyat Chairman Syed Ali Geelani who was scheduled to address the public meeting that day but was detained outside his Hyderpoa residence. Police that day arrested dozens of youths there including Tehreek-e-Hurriyat district president Islamabad Mir Hafizullah when he was coming out from the Masjid, Nisar Ahmad Kadipora, Muneeb Manzoor Dangarpora and Mohammad Shafi Wanipora and since then they are locked up in the Islamabad police station,” he said.
