Terming the baton charge on the protesting Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers as unjustified and unnecessary, Hurriyat Conference (g) Thursday condemned it in strong words.

In a statement, Hurriyat (g) spokesperson said that the teachers are the nation builders and they should be respected in every way and honouring them is the symbol of a civilized society. “Kashmir police have developed a particular mind set due to the conflict and they consider it vital to use excessive force against any person who comes on road. They have no place for any kind of respect for the respectable citizens and they treat everybody with same attitude. The role of the police in developed nations is most civilized and polite and the public protests are dealt with extra care and in a respectable manner,” he said.

The Hurriyat spokesperson also appealed the ReT teachers “not to make the screening test an issue of pride and protect the dignity of the nation builders at any cost”. “This issue should be settled in a very humble way so that the studies of the students may not get affected. Students are the worst hit of this conflict ridden state and they should not suffer due to this deadlock,” he added.
