Strongly condemning the burning of a flag with ‘Kalima Tayyaba’ written on it by some miscreants, All Parties Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Geelani Tuesday demanded legal action against the involved persons.

A Hurriyat (g) statement said that since the BJP backed government came into power in the state, the mischievous activities against the Muslims of the Pirpanchal and Chenab valley regions have increased to the alarming level and they are “harassed in every possible way”.

“If this process is not stopped and hatching of conspiracies against the Jammu Muslims are not closed, it will have serious consequences and a strong reaction will came to fore against this in the Kashmir Valley,” the statement warned.

“Burning of ‘Kalima Tayyaba’ written flags in Rajouri is neither any coincidence and nor does this occur due to the ignorance of the miscreants but it is part of a well thought plan and its only purpose is to hurt the Muslim sentiments and create the communal tension in the region,” the statement alleged.

“Hurriyat Conference (g) doesn’t accept the argument of some people that the persons who performed this mischievous act were ignorant of what is written on the flag and this ‘Kalima’ is the basics of the faith of the Muslims. Every flag written with ‘Kalima Tayyaba’ is not the flag of ISIS and burning of ‘Kalima Tayyaba’ bearing any flag is not acceptable to the Muslims. RSS, BJP and other affiliated parties of Sang Parivar treat Jammu region as their conquered territory and they are preparing for ethnic cleansing of the Muslims in this region,” the statement said.

Expressing deep concern that Mufti Sayeed is looking unconcerned with this situation and “he had practically left the Jammu region for the communal forces”, the statement said, “he is only concerned with his chair and he had nothing to do with the miseries of the Jammu Muslims.” However, the statement said that Hurriyat Conference (g) will not leave the Jammu Muslims alone and “we will stand with them whenever they will need us. In this regard at first stage a data collection movement will be started there in relation to the situations of the Jammu region and the conspiracies of the communal forces against the Muslims of the region will be exposed and brought to the notice of the general public.”

The statement also condemned the vandalizing and smashing of dozens of vehicles and residential houses in the Nawakadal and Safakadal areas on the Eid day by the CRPF and police.

Hurriyat (g) said, “the damage to the property worth 12 to 15 lakh rupees has occurred on that day and government is still to take any notice in this regard.” “Whenever any untoward incident happens with regarding to the law and order situations, the Indian forces revenge it to the common people and it is the grave violations of the citizen rights which should be condemned at each level.”

Hurriyat (g) demanded compensation to the people whose houses or the vehicles has been damaged and who have been punished for no fault of theirs.
