Hurriyat (M) Conference Pakistan administered Kashmir chapter and the Kashmir Liberation Cell on Wednesday organised a function at Islamabad, Pakistan to pay tributes to Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone on their anniversaries. Rich tributes were also paid to all Kashmiris for sacrifices their lives for a great and a sacred cause.

The spokesman said function was presided over by Prime Minister of Pakistan administered Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider while as resistance leaders who were present on the occasion include JKLF spokesman Muhammad Rafiq Dar, Muslim Conference senior leader Saghir Chugtayi, People Party Secretary-General Faisal Rathore, Kashmir Liberation Cell Secretary and convener APHC for PaK ,  Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Hurriyat leader Syed Yousuf Naseem, Ghulam Muhammad Safi and others.

The speakers in their address while terming the Mirwaiz Farooq as a great religious, social and a political leader, said that the Mirwaiz Farooq spent his entire life in raising the issues of people’s political and social aspirations. They said that Mirwaiz Farooq worked hard to press for the right to self-determination of Kashmiris since begging without entering into compromise and instead preferred to spend many years in jail and remained rock solid on his commitment towards Kashmiri people and nation.

The speakers said and that Mirwaiz Farooq always highlighted the genuine aspirations from the pulpit of Kashmir’s spiritual centime Jamia Masjid. Apart from being a religious leader, Mirwaiz Farooq left no stone unturned to ensure Kashmir issue is highlighted on all forums available to him.

The speakers also paid rich tributes to Khawja Abdul Gani Lone stating that he was one of the front-runners of Kashmir’s political struggle and his farsightedness and vision for Kashmir would always act as a torchbearer for those espousing the Kashmir cause. They said that Khwaja Lone never surrendered before government and was killed at a gathering at “martyr’s” graveyard in Srinagar on May 21, 2002.

The speakers strongly condemned the new wave of violence by the government forces in every nook and corner of Kashmir that includes caging resistance leaders, harassing and arresting the youth stating that efforts will continue on all fronts for the peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue.

The speakers urged the world community to take serious note of war crimes being committed by the government forces in Kashmir that include unabated human rights violations and to build pressure on Delhi to resolve the issue as per people’s aspirations.

Meanwhile, on the directions of APHC chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, senior APHC leader Mukhtar Ahmed Waza visited Bibehera hospital to inquire about the health of those injured in the grenade attack.

Another Hurriyat delegation comprising Sufi Mushtaq Ahmad, Peer Ghulam Nabi, Farooq Ahmed Sudagar visited SMHS hospital Srinagar to inquire about the health status of the injured shifted from Bijbehara.
